The FREE Act, SB494/HB552 Would Have Given Tennessee parents true educational autonomy and freedom. These Republican Legislators Killed the Bill.
Free YOUR Children and FYC volunteers were honored to draft this legislation. Every legislator that claimed they believed that parents are the best equipped to make educational decisions for their children should have supported this bill. This legislation exemplified TRUE school choice. Instead, Republican legislators killed the bill citing potential abuse, proving that they do not believe in parental autonomy, educational and Constitutional rights. Direct link to the bill here:

What Is Next?
In Tennessee our legislature has one job. That is to ensure a free public education.

Universal Citation: TN Const art XI § 12
The state of Tennessee recognizes the inherent value of education and encourages its support. The General Assembly shall provide for the maintenance, support and eligibility standards of a system of free public schools. The General Assembly may establish and support such post-secondary educational institutions, including public institutions of higher learning, as it determines.” ~Justia US Law
Homeschool and private education in the state of Tennessee should not be regulated by our legislature. All current homeschool and private school laws in the state of Tennessee need to be repealed. Fee YOUR Children is committed to that goal but we need your help.
